There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the release of the debut full length album by the foursome known as ‘A Rocket to the Moon’. This group, led by vocalist/guitar Nick Santino, guitarist Justin Richards, Eric Halvorsen on bass and newest member Andrew Cook on drums, released On Your Side in October of 2009 - a timely follow-up to their summer touring schedule that served to introduce the band to the masses. Showing up at festivals like Bamboozle and playing select dates on the Vans Warped Tour got people talking.
On Your Side is a fun pop-rock compilation of songs written about experiences that anyone that has been through high school can relate to. Catchy hooks right off the top on ‘Annabelle’ will have you mindlessly bopping along to lyrics like ‘Maybe you’re pretty but I’m pretty sure I’m over you’…fun yes, albeit not overly original. This is the common theme throughout the album.
The second track, ‘Mr Right’, comes with a more solid sounding chorus and has become a MySpace fan favorite with over 730,000 plays as well as a video. Offering some diversity on this release we have ‘Baby Blue Eyes’ - a stripped down acoustic-sounding ballad that highlights Nick’s vocals. This song is followed by ‘Give a Damn’ whose intro and harmonizing adds to the party-feel on this track.
With ‘On Your Side’, A Rocket to the Moon has put out an album with definite radio appeal. They are presently on tour throughout the U.S. in support of this album.
