I can’t imagine a better way to ring in St. Patrick’s Day then with a dose of Flogging Molly. This seven-member ensemble will make you feel like you’re in the heart of Ireland at Molly Malone’s Bar, the stomping grounds that started it all. This group of Irish punk rockers have such heart and soul; you’ll feel they’re accessible from your living room couch. Flogging Molly share their hardships and joys with heartfelt lyrics, cementing an honest connection with their legion of fans.
Flogging Molly has a distinct sound merging old world Celtic with modern day punk, immersing the listener in an instrumental that includes violin, mandolin, accordion, meshed with traditional Irish sounds of grinding guitars, pounding drums, fiddle and whistle. As if that wasn’t enough, they throw in some great lyrics such as on the song “Drunken Lullabies”. Soon you’ll be craving a green beer and the nearest dance floor.
Although I have not yet been able to view the DVD that accompanies this CD set, I am eager to watch the energy that’s obviously present. Once you hear “You Won’t Make A Fool Out Of Me, and “Float”, the infectious ease and energy of this band will leave you astounded. The band’s successful layering of sound crafts a distinctive mix that is the one and only Flogging Molly.
